John and Yoko- Cosmopolitan Japanese @ Greenbelt 5

After a tiring but fun run at SM Mall of Asia, we went home to clean ourselves up and prepare for a lunch at John and Yoko in Greenbelt 5.

We had 2 vouchers of 1k worth of food and drinks that needs to be used before November ends so we decided to use them after the run.

I love the fusion of red and purple colors inside the place especially the latter color which was the evident theme of John and Yoko. The chairs were also painted in purple with some pictures of different Japanese warriors and princesses.

With our stomachs rumblings, we immediately ordered the items which I researched way ahead of time.

We got their Tofu Cheese Melt (P178) which was really cheesy! It was basically soft Japanese tofu with a fried coating of batter, drizzled with lots of cheese, bacon bits, and spring onions. Even though there were lots of cheese, the cheese sauce itself was not too salty and had a very light taste.

Salmon Sashimi (P228)- 7 pieces of fresh raw salmon slices. just by looking at the photo, you can really tell that the salmon used was fresh.

Chicken Teriyaki and Mango Pizza (P258)- My favorite dish of all. I just love the thin and crispy crust of the pizza giving a more delicious fusion of flavors from the toppings.

Steamed Chicken Gyoza (P228)- We were supposed to order Pork Gyoza but the waiter told us that only chicken gyoza was available so we agreed to other that one.

We regret ordering the dish afterwards because it was not good at all. I could not taste or even see the chicken inside and all we can taste were garlic and ginger. We just had the left over pieces for take out.

Spider Roll (P258)- 8 pieces of sushi rolls with soft shell crab and drizzled with Japanese mayo then topped with tobiko (fish roe).

D also got himself a bowl of Gyudon (P228) which he said was small in serving. I'm not sure but I thought it was already big. Maybe he was just really hungry that time or should I say famished after the run.

And since our bill hasn't reached 2k, we had an additional order of New York Fried Maki (P278) which had unagi, mangoes and cucumber. I love unagi so much so this was a hit for me.

We also tried their Ika Fritters w/ Cocktail Sauce (P199)- I did not really dig the sauce and just ate the fried squid without it. The squid was fried but it was not that crunchy. I find Tokyo Tokyo's Ika Fry better. The dish also had a small serving of slaw with vinaigrette dressing on the side.

I would still say that this was quite a deal since we only paid 1k for everything we ate. Group buying is definitely one great marketing strategy of restaurants.
