Steak Dinner Date at Chops Chicago Steakhouse- Greenbelt 5, Makati

This steak dinner was supposed to be a post Valentine's date for me and D. If you could remember, we just stayed at home last Valentine's Day and decided to prepare some home-cooked dishes for dinner instead.

The month of March and April quickly passed by and still we weren't able to have our dinner date at Chops. When D got back from his summer trip in Croatia last May, our steak dinner was finally set.

Chops Chicago Steakhouse is located at the top floor of Greenbelt 5 near Peking Garden and Kimpura. Honestly, the place intimidates me. Good thing there's a big menu board outside for people who'd like to check the prices first.

The whole place was dimly lit for that cozy and romantic vibe. We started with some warm herbed focaccia served with balsamic dip.

D ordered for a soup and the only available soup that day was their Navy Pier (P170). They split the order in half so that I could also have one for myself. The soup was pretty ok with mixed seafood in it but the serving size was too small for its price.

D and I each got their Wisconsin Beef Tenderloin (P850) cooked to medium. It was served in a wooden chopping board with gravy and greens on the side.

The steak was well-seasoned and cooked to perfection with a juicy pinkish center. Now this is my kind of steak- thick-cut, juicy, meaty and tender. It's been a while since I had a great steak for dinner. Well, that is because I seldom crave for steaks and we all know that dining in a fine steakhouse means $$$. D isn't into steaks either but he completely wiped his chopping board clean in an instant!

Since our steaks didn't include sidings, we ordered for their Creamed Spinach with Organic Egg and Parmesan Cheese (P180) and Truffle Mac and Cheese (P180).

The price of P180 for their sidings was very reasonable given its serving size that could already be shared by 2-3 people. We both loved the Creamed Spinach served in a small cauldron. It was like a melting pot of healthy and delicious spinach and egg. A must-try!!

As for the Truffle Mac and Cheese, the pasta was al dente but I wish it had some toppings on it so as not to be tiring to the palate. The cheese sauce was a bit thin in consistency too making it less cheesy and creamy. Nevertheless, there was a distinct truffle aroma on every forkful, so we enjoyed it just the same.

Our night at Chops was perfect! Mouth-watering steaks, cozy ambiance, quiet atmosphere and great service.. It was not the usual date night for us, but I did appreciate the time and experience we had at Chops.
