Da.u.de (da-you-deh)- sounds foreign right? But this name of a famous tea lounge in Fort Bonifacio was actually derived from an Igorot's bahag. A local concept owned by Ms. Renee Sebastian, the Philippines' first Tea Master and Couture Tea Blender.
With a voucher from Deal Grocer, D and I was able to avail their Modern High Tea for only P875 instead of the regular price of P1,400.
The lounge boasts an elegant and fine interior with a display case of their fresh breads and pastries near the counter. We settled quietly and cautiously in one of the available seats as one of the servers approached us to get our orders. The place is quite small inside that we were actually seated back to back with other guests.
After browsing through their vast list of tea selections, we finally ordered a pot of their Seffarine- a couture blend of peppermint, lemon verbena, rose petals, calendula, chamomile, lavender and corn flower.
We just love the quirky cups with mustache and bow design.
The deal includes a 3 tier plate of delightful and colorful tea-infused sweet and savory treats.
Starting off the first tier is a plate of freshly baked Madeleines and Scones with Lemon Curd and Unclotted Cream.
We both enjoyed everything on the first layer from the pastries down to the cream and curd.
The second layer consist of 2 kinds of mini open-faced sandwiches-Roasted Vegetable Tartines and Crisp Pork Bahn Mi Crostinis.
It was a combination of healthy and savory treat that's equally filling and flavorful.
Last but not the least, a tier of Apfelstrudel w/ Vanilla Ice Cream, Tea Brulee, and Macaron Duo to cap off our afternoon tea time.
After our first modern high tea experience at Daude, I'd say that it certainly won't be the last. I'm quite enjoying this kind of leisurely afternoon tea time with D and seems like he's having a great time as well. The tea set might look not enough for us, but believe it or not, we were both completely satisfied afterwards.
