Hey Yabu Fanatics! If you were able to check out my post What's New with Yabu, I'm pretty sure you have already enjoyed your limitless miso soup, white/organic brown rice and fruits aside from their unlimited cabbage with goma, shoyu and wasabi dressing.
Also, you may have already tried their new appetizers, the Iidako Salad (our family's favorite) and Cold Spinach Salad w/ Goma Sauce.
For main dishes, I bet you were all eager to try that new Miso Katsu and at the same time glad to know that your favorite Rosu is now made with certified U.S. Pork.
If you haven't tried all of these, now is the time to revisit the original House of Katsu and enjoy the new dishes they launched recently.
Starting off with another addition to their appetizer sets- Chilled Chicken Salad
Fresh seasonal vegetables with shredded chicken, edamame, and crisp wanton strips tossed in mustard vinaigrette. A great alternative to my favorite shredded cabbage. I just love the added crunch and texture from the wanton crisps, but not much a fan of the mustard dressing since I don't like wasabi.
The highlight of our visit is their new Oroshi Katsu Set available in your choice of Kurobuta (P595), Hire (P420), Rosu (P390), Chicken (P370).
Since D doesn't like to eat the fat trimmings from the Rosu, we ordered Hire instead.
Oroshi Katsu is basically our favorite katsu set from Yabu topped with grated radish and spring onions. It is served with a wedge of grapefruit and ponzu sauce. We found the serving of spring onions too little though :(
To enjoy this new and refreshing take on your favorite katsu, just squeeze some grapefruit then pour in the sweet and citrusy ponzu sauce over your katsu.
We love Yabu's hire katsu becasuse it's so juicy and tender even without the fat trimmings of rosu. Plus, we get to enjoy a leaner and chunkier cut of meat. I think I found a new favorite! :)
Last but not the least, a new dessert from Yabu! Honestly, I haven't tried Yabu's Lava Cake ala Mode before. Surprisingly, this new item got me ordering one for myself despite being full.
With Yabu's Mochi Ice Cream platter, you'll get not just one, nor two, but three different flavors of mochi ice cream- Green Tea, Red Bean, and Black Sesame
Don't you just love its Christmassy colors? My personal favorite is the black sesame while D enjoyed the red bean very much!
It was yet another delightful meal at Yabu! Hope they continue whipping up exciting dishes for all Yabunatics out there.
