Kettle- A Melting Pot of Comfort Food at Shangrila East Wing

After our visit to Green Pastures, I was finally able to try another restaurant that piqued my interest the most in Shangrila Plaza's East Wing- Kettle. D has tried it before with his family and he was all praises about their food. So when I got an invitation to try it out, I made sure there's no way I'd miss the chance.

Appetizers

Pork and Potato Strips (P339)- crunchy pork belly, fresh potato strips, fried herbs, red pepper aioli

Honestly, I am not a big fan of potatoes or fries, but serve me this and I'll gladly have as much as I want. This appetizer was just so addicting, I was still munching on it in between main courses. It's absolutely normal to create a mess while demolishing this tower of crispy fried pork and potato goodness.

Baked Brie (P389)- puff pastry, forest berries jam, balsamic syrup, side salad

As much as I love brie, this appetizer did not quite stood out for me. Maybe I was expecting something very creamy and cheesy rather than a sweet puffed pastry.

Main Courses

Buttermilk Fried Chicken (P519)- honey-glazed corn bread, country gravy, cajun honey

If there's one thing in Kettle that you should not miss ordering, it's their Buttermilk Fried Chicken- 2 pcs. of huge and crispy chicken fried until golden brown. The Southern-style fried chicken is made more interesting by the addition of some country gravy and cajun honey. Also worth the rave are the 3 pcs. of honey-gazed corn bread that puts my favorite corn muffin out of the limelight.

Corned Beef Hash (P519)- house made, fried potatoes, egg, gravy, choice of rice or toasted bread

I love the juicy and tender corned beef chunks with the sunny side up egg on top, but I think this dish is not for me. As I mentioned previously, I'm not much into potatoes. This dish has generous servings of potato chunks making it a complete meal in itself.

Miso Glazed Salmon (P559)- pan-fired Norwegian salmon, marinated cold soba noodles, mango silantro salsa

What impressed me the most is this interesting combination of cold soba and salmon topped with mango cilantro salsa. Perhaps the only thing I didn't like about this dish is the cilantro..just because I hate the smell of cilantro. But overall, it's something I would definitely order again and again.

Sandwiches

Shrimp Po'Boy (P419)- soft ciabatta roll, cajun breaded shrimps, remoulade
Kettle Grilled Four Cheese (P329)- english loaf, gruyere, fontina, cheddar, parmesan, sweet tomato jam, basil crunch

Kettle also has amazing sandwiches served with sweet potato fries for an equally filling meal. The Shrimp Po'Boy is overloaded with a heaping of crunchy fried shrimps, while the Grilled Cheese Sandwich, is made up of not 1, but 4 kinds of cheese.

Beverages

Lemon Iced Tea/ Green Iced Tea/ Peach Iced Tea 750ml carafe (P149)

For drinks, choose from 3 blends of iced tea- Lemon, Green and Peach. I liked the Peach and Green Iced Tea the most.

Desserts

Peach Trifle (P269)

Pineapple Upside Down Cake (P189)

Checkered Cake (P209) and Caramel Cake (P189)

Banana Cream Pie (P149)

The pretty Checkered Cake deserves an A++ for effort, but my favorites that night were the Peach Trifle and Banana Cream Pie.
