D&B Duck & Buvette Shangrila Mall- Celebrating Our 4th Year Anniversary

D&B (Denby and Berylle) goes to D&B (Duck & Buvette). After several months of drooling over photos, and following their instagram and facebook page, D finally brought me to Duck & Buvette in Shangri-la Mall for our 4th year anniversary. The place wasn't as intimidating as I expected. In fact, it was very cozy and welcoming with wooden accents, bright lights and opened walls.

Maple Candied Bacon and Lemon (P175)- glazed and baked crispy smoked bacon belly with lemon

The sweet and savory candied smoked bacon was a delight to the palate. Best to squeeze in some lemon to enhance the flavor and balance out the sweetness. I also enjoyed eating it with rice, savoring every piece up to the last bite.

D&B Crispy Half Duck Duck Confit (P980)- house specialty of half duck confit, served with whole grain mustard, red wine sauce, ratatouille duck rice, and cranberry carrot sides

One of the tastiest and juiciest duck confits I've tried! It may seem a bit pricey (considering I can already get 5-6 whole kinulob na itik from our favorite Itlog ni Kuya) but definitely worth it once you get to taste the succulent, moist and fall-off-the-bone duck meat underneath that crispy golden skin.

An order is good for 2-3 people. In our case, we managed to finish everything and still able to eat other dishes we ordered. The duck confit was already tasty and flavorful on its own, even without the red wine sauce and whole grain mustard. The ratatouille rice that came with it was also pretty good, but was not enough for two.

Confit of Pork Belly with Egg and Rice (P360)- crisped belly, confit in duck fat, poached duck egg, raspberry and balsamic reduction, garlic rice

No doubt this confit of pork belly tasted extremely delicious and flavorful with its perfectly crisped skin. However, we were not too pleased with the cut served to us. I don't know if it really should be 80% fat and 20% meat, but we ended up leaving almost 3/4 of this already small dish. Well, if you love pork fat so much like some people I know, then this dish is definitely for you.

Here are other Duck & Buvette best-sellers:

Grilled Octopus Salad (P290)- mixed greens, octopus, lemon-chili-hazelnut dressing

Grilled Romaine Salad (P190)- charred romaine lettuce, Parmesan, anchovy garlic dressing

Salsa Verde Lamb Neck (P320)- slow roasted, grilled lamb neck, mint salsa verde, topped w/ fried chili

50 Clove HDP Roast Chicken (P490)- Herbs de Provence roasted half chicken, stuffed w/ 50 cloves of garlic , red wine sauce, lemon roasted veggies

The Earl's Cheesecake (P190)- homemade w/ fresh Madagascar vanilla beans & organic earl grey tea

Duck & Buvette Menu:

We arrived past 3 in the afternoon after hours of heavy traffic during the holiday season, but the food and experience made the wait and traffic agony worth it. Good thing their Crispy Duck Confit was available during our visit, as I heard it is suggested to call ahead for its availability and reservation.

Thank you D for bringing me to another happy place! I can't wait to go back and try other dishes with you! :) Looking forward to more awesome lunches and dinners this 2015. Here's to cutting down on unnecessary weekday night foodtrips, fast food drive thrus and late night junk food!

  5. Thank you for posting. This is a good source of where to eat in the UP Town Center Katipunan. Do you any idea what time they open. Are they open also during weekend? This is like you are traveling through Asian country. I like the variety of food around the area.
