Oliviers & Co. 2015 Olive Oil Collection Launch by SSI Group at Vask, BGC

Oliviers & Co. is renowned for its superb catalog of gourmet olive oils, condiments, and seasonings, committing to only the finest ingredients and sound processes. Oliviers & Co. continues to push for precision- from hand-harvesting the olives to tasting pre- and post-bottling with a third test at the boutiques and finally, to packaging.

Oliviers & Co.’s latest collection adds a new-level of eloquence to Philippines kitchens. It has been a little over a year since the SSI Group introduced France-based olive oil company Oliviers & Co. to the Philippines and redefined local kitchens everywhere.

A few weeks ago, I was invited to witness the launch of Oliviers and Co.'s 2015 Harvest at Vask Modern Tapas & Gastronomic Cuisine in BGC.

We sampled a Grand Crus of olive oil and acquainted ourselves with the different profiles of each origin.

As Oliviers & Co. settles to be a regular in local cooking, the company continues to innovate and surprise the palate with new concoctions. This year, 10 new olive oils have been meticulously selected as part of a new collection that offers deeper eloquence to dishes.

My favorite was the Moulin La Cravenco Organic harvested from Baux de Provence, France. It is exceptionally creamy- almost like butter- with sweetness reminiscent of apples. It is best for dishes with more delicate profiles like seafood and chicken breast, and would also complement baked goods and fruits.

The Quinta Sao Sebastiao, from Madural, Cobrancosa, and Verdeal, hails from Portugal. It has a greater intensity with dry grass, olive leaves, and tomato leaf undertones. This olive oil brings out the best sides of cooked vegetables and meats like veal, chicken, and beef.

The most interesting part of the event was when Chef Jose Luis "Chele" Gonzales of Vask, presented everyone with a 5-course degustation menu paired with Oliviers and Co.'s 2015 Olive Oil Collection.

Oliviers&Co. also bottle oils in the tradition of the finest wines, identified with the label “Grand Cru.” One of these is the Monva olive oil. This Spanish gem comes with robust tart notes that could certainly inject life in lighter fare or add extra zing in ice cream!

Agrolaguna is a rare oil from Croatia with smooth but intense taste from Leccino and Picholine olives. A flavor that’s both vegetal and nutty making it a versatile ingredient for vegetables, meat, cheese, and desserts.

Oliviers & Co. prepares their oils in small, limited batches, to ensure the quality of each bottle. Aside from premium olive oil products, Oliviers and Co. also has kitchen and pantry staples such as vinegars, condiments, spreads, sauces and seasonings.
