I've written all about Eatigo on my previous post and the top 10 reasons why every foodie needs it on their mobile phones. Now, let me share my first experience in using the app and how we saved almost Php1000 at one of their partner establishments Shitamachi Tendon Akimitsu in Ayala Malls The 30th.
Shitamachi Tendon Akimitsu is a franchise from Akasuka, Tokyo (home to the best and authentic tempura in Japan) which specializes in tendon (tempura donburi) or tempura rice bowl.
The two restaurant concepts stand beside each other and shares a common dining area. Cross-ordering between Ramen Nagi and Tendon Akimitsu is allowed, so that customers can enjoy the best of both worlds.
Since we made reservations at Shitamachi Tendon Akimitsu via the Eatigo app, cross-ordering was still allowed, but items ordered from Ramen Nagi won't be included in the discount.
I booked for the 3:00pm time slot with a corresponding 50% discount on our total bill.
We arrived at 2pm, and decided to pass the time by checking other restaurants we can try on our next visit.
The reservation process via Eatigo was a breeze and hassle-free. As soon as we arrived at the restaurant, the server immediately led us to out table.
Here are some important things to remember when booking via Eatigo:
1. Make sure to arrive on time or earlier as your reservation is only guaranteed for 15 minutes.
2. Eatigo discount only applies to food orders. Drinks are NOT included in the discount.
3. Discount cannot be combined with other promos.
4. Number of guests must equal to the number of seats reserved via the Eatigo app.
Moving on to the food, we started with an appetizer of my favorite Spicy Tuna Sashimi (P230).
Tendon Akimitsu's version were very chunky and creamy, topped with crunchy tempura flakes. The spiciness was subtle, perfect for people who can't tolerate too much heat.
We also tried the Aburi Salmon Maki (P490) which came in six large pieces of maki rolls topped with thick salmon slices. The rolls were drenched in creamy white sauce which I initially thought was Japanese mayo. Turned out, it was a light cheese sauce which went pretty well with the maki. It was a little overwhelming though after my second piece.
The classic Kani Kama Salad (P200) was light and refreshing. A nice choice for those who want to have something clean and healthy.
For mains, we got an order of the Godaime Chef Special Tempura (P640) which consists of Anago eel, prawn, oyster, fish, shrimp, bone cracker and vegetable tempura. Since they ran out of bone cracker, which is the spine of the anago eel, they replaced it with a fish tempura instead.
The tempura were very crunchy and size for each kind was very huge. The tempura batter coated the ingredients perfectly, in a way that it was not too thin nor thick for the seafood items.
While I found everything good, we both agreed that the tendon dishes are the star at Tendon Akimitsu.
We got the Tendon-Ha (P615) which basically consisted of almost the same ingredients as the previous dish, but with more vegetables.
We personally preferred the tendon as the tempura items were drenched in sweet sauce, making the tempura softer to the bite, but not soggy. I also liked the touch of sweetness from the special glaze sauce.
It was a very filling late lunch at Shitamachi Tendon Akimitsu as one order of the tempura/tendon is already big enough for sharing. Prices were reasonable, and even more affordable with the Eatigo discount. Our total bill amounted to Php2175, but with the discount, final bill went down to Php1305 inclusive of service charge. That's almost P1000 worth of discount from the original amount.
Thank you Eatigo for bringing this awesome foodie app in the Philippines. I can't wait to book for more restaurants via Eatigo soon!
