A few days after a month long vacation, D and I went to Chubby's Rib Shack in Makati to finally taste what they had to offer.
When I still had this hangover for American food, I was craving for some good ol' barbecue and Chubby's Rib Shack seemed the perfect place to be.
I love the cabin-like interior of the place that has wooden ceilings and walls to create a Texas-shack inspired ambiance. The place gives off a cozy and country feel to it that make it seems like you are in an original barbecue house.
We learned that Chubby's Rib Shack was actually the "little brother" of Buffalo's Wings N' Things which serves one of the best buffalo wings in the Metro.
Their menu selections was quite limited but you are free to order from "big brother" who is just beside Chubby's.
Pulled Pork Nachos (P149)
We had some pulled pork sandwiches and tacos before but it was our first time to try a Pulled Pork Nachos. Imagine your favorite nachos drizzled with melted cheese but instead of the usual ground beef toppings, they serve it with a generous amount of sweet and tangy barbecue pulled pork pieces.
The Big Daddy! (P184)
We just can't get enough of this appetizer when "The Bid Daddy" came. It was indeed big with slow smoked pulled pork, coleslaw and cheese sauce in between two big and crunchy Texas Toast. The toast was thickly sliced with an aromatic glaze of garlic flavor.
Taste is the same as the pulled pork nachos but this order comes in garlic toast instead of nachos.
Customers could choose from 3 sauces for their pulled pork, Honey Barbecue, Home-style Barbecue and Cayenne Barbecue.
We chose the Home-style Barbecue since we already ordered for the half pound Honey Barbecue Wings.
Honey BBQ Wings (P139/half pound)
A half pound of their Honey Barbecue Wings came in 4 fairly big pieces of wings coated in a thick rich barbecue sauce. I love the taste of the sauce that was a bit sweet and tangy at the same time. The wings were tender with crunchy skin and juicy meaty inside.
Riblets Basket (P279)
Lastly, we were served with Chubby's originals of Barbecue Ribs. We got the Riblets Basket instead of the Baby Back Ribs as recommended by our server. Both are basically the same, the only difference is that the latter comes in slab while the riblets were chopped and has less bones in it.
An order of Chubby's Originals comes with sidings of Texas Toast, Honky Tonk Rice and Coleslaw.
The ribs were really tender and fall-off-the-bone with a smokey grilled flavor that I was looking for. It was basted with their special BBQ sauce that made a great pairing for the Honky Tonk Rice which had baked beans on top.
Chubby's Rib Shack Menu:
We certainly had a great time at Chubby's Rib Shack. Service was fast, and our server was also very friendly and accommodating. Prices were affordable considering the generous amount of serving we had.
I wanted to share our photo because we can't help but feel like we were suitably dressed for Chubby's Rib Shack's theme. :)

I used to love this place. I ask every time I go there if there is pork in the bean sauce on the rice. They always say no. Today I heard them laughing and confronted them. On top of that I saw the cook in the bathroom and he did not wash his hands. I really loved this place but that is 3 strikes in one day. 1.) Lying to me about the menu. 2.) being disrespectful to me by laughing about it and snickering "happy ramadan". 3.) The cook not washing his hands after leaving the restroom.
ReplyDeleteI used to LOVE this place and have referenced it hundreds of times, but these guys are rude and not managed right.
Loves the place and ambiance! Will tell it to my man and tag him along! Want to try these! especially the riblets basket and pulled pork nachos! :)))
