Nest MNL Modern Table and Bar- Roofdeck Dining at the W Fifth Building in BGC

Heading to Fort on a weekend night? There's a new dining destination that gives diners a romantic view of the BGC skyline while enjoying sumptuous food and drinks with friends and loved ones. Located at the roofdeck level of W Fifth Building, Nest Modern Table and Bar offers an upscale yet laid back alfresco setting above the city lights.

Nest MNL is brought to us by the same people behind Relik, URBN, Salo, and Raven, with Chef Benjo Tuason at the kitchen helm.

Few weeks ago, we were invited to a tasting dinner featuring Nest's modern and mouthwatering dishes.

Starters

Foie Gras and Mushrooms (P550)- poached egg, croutons, parmesan and balsamic

How can you go wrong with foie gras? Although I could not manage to eat so much of the fatty duck liver, all the other elements gave this dish a nice balance and texture.

Ham and Eggs (P250)- Jamon Serrano, poached egg, pea and mint salad, parmesan and truffle oil

Another beautiful nest of textures and flavors. Perfectly poached egg laying atop crunchy and fresh asparagus and peas served with slices of tasty dry-cured ham and parmesan shavings.

Beetroot Carpaccio (P300)- feta cheese, citrus segments, candid walnuts, garlic confit

I was never a fan of eating beetroot, unless it is infused in a pasta or other innovative recipes. I bravely tried a piece and thought it was pretty good.. sweet and refreshing with the feta cheese, citrus segments and walnuts.. until I swallowed it and reminded me why I don't like beets in the first place. The flavors were perfect, it's just that I hate the raw and earthy aftertaste of beets.

Mains

5 Spiced Roast Pork Belly (P250)- kurobuta pork belly, soy and garlic noodle, sesame cucumber relish

One of our favorite dishes for the night. Tender slices of pork belly with just the right amount of fat trimmings, resting on a bed of sweet and savory oriental-style noodles. Give your palate a refreshing break from the savory flavors of the meat by having some sesame cucumber relish in between bites.

Rack of Lamb (P950)- herb and mustard glaze, smoked eggplant, glazed zucchini and lamb jus

Another winning dish for the night was this rack of lamb cooked just the way I like it. The lamb may be the star of this dish but the smoked eggplant underneath the rack was equally stellar and worth mentioning.

Chili BBQ Chicken (P325)- potatoes, bacon and lemon slaw

For a healthier option, the bbq chicken, albeit simple and ordinary looking was tender and juicy.

Bar Bites

Nest MNL serves bar chows that are equally filling and tasty as their main courses. Their bar bites are definitely not bite-sized as their servings are perfect for sharing with the group.

Assorted Yakitori (P300)

A platter of assorted skewers with pork, salmon, chicken, and shrimp to choose from. I found the sauce too much that it overpowers the natural taste of the meat and makes each skewer taste the same like the first one.

Beef, Cheese and Miso Spring Rolls (P250)

Cheesy and meaty at the same time, the beef spring rolls were nothing extraordinary, but still good especially when dipped in the homemade spicy sriracha mayo.

Signature Cocktails

Sexy and I Know It (P331)- Absolut Vanilla Vodka, Rose Syrup, Lemon and Maraschino Cherry Liquer

One of Nest's signature cocktails recommended for the ladies. The sweet ladies' drink garnished with fresh rose petals will certainly make you say "I'm sexy and I know it!"

Smokin' (P414)- Laphroaig Single Malt Scotch, Coconut Syrup, Honey and Lime

Green Mojito (P414)- Bacardi Silver, Green Apple Puree, Green Charteuses, Mint and Ginger Beer
Blue Moon (P331)- Maker's Mark Bourbon, Black Currant, Lemon, Angostura, Blue Flower

Desserts

Chocolate Textures (P200)- chocolate marquise, raspberry coulis, fudge brownies and strawberries

This is called Chocolate Textures, but somehow it lacked the texture I was looking for- a fudgier bottom or some crunch in between layers. But I did appreciate the tangy and sweet raspberry coulis to balance out the rich and creamy chocolate cake.

Reeses's Sansrival (P200)- peanut butter cream and chocolate ganache

Donuts and Dips (P200)- peanut butter cream, salted caramel, strawberry jam

To cap off the night, we were served with this platter of mini cinnamon sugar donuts with 3 kinds of dip- strawberry, peanut butter, and salted caramel. I love the strawberry the most.
