McDonald's Philippines once again surprised Filipinos last March 24, by giving away free breakfast and toll fees with the McTollbooth, a lane mimicking a McDonald’s Drive-Thru in two of the country’s national expressways.
The McTollbooth is part of McDonald’s global initiative imlovinit24, which aims to bring the world together virtually through 24 gifts of joy in 24 hours in 24 different cities.
From 6:30-8:00 AM, lucky motorists who passed the McTollbooth, located at the Bocaue Exit at the North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) and Nichols Plaza at the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX), were given free McMuffin sandwiches and treated to free toll fees. Thousands of McMuffin sandwiches were given away to hundreds of vehicles who passed the expressways.
“With McTollbooth, McDonald’s Philippines is once again able to spread happiness in the morning, this time, to motorists on their way to work or school, who experience the rush hour traffic and steep toll fees on a daily basis. We are delighted to be part of the brand’s global initiative of engaging our customers and bringing the world together with 24 random acts of surprise,” said McDonald’s Philippines Senior Vice President for Marketing, Margot Torres.
McDonald’s Philippines President and CEO Kenneth S. Yang gave away the first McMuffin at the North Luzon Expressway. Endorsers Xian Lim, Enrique Gil and Lovi Poe were also present to add to the surprise. Netizens took part in spreading word of the McTollbooth, filling social media with posts and photos of the motorists’ one-of-a-kind experience, making more Filipinos say “I’m lovin’ it”!
