Applebees's Grill & Bar Launches New Dishes to Give More Reasons to Celebrate!

Few weeks ago, Applebee's Philippines hosted an afternoon celebration and feast, to introduce their newest menu additions. We are not talking about 2-3 new dishes here, but a whooping 20 new items including salads, appetizers, pasta, meat and seafood dishes, burger and desserts.

We started off with one of the best food discoveries and pairing for the day: Applebees's Fried Sweet & Spicy Pickles (P195) paired with Engkanto Beer.

I must admit, the appetizer initially didn't catch my interest at all. Why would I have pickles for starters, when I can enjoy some crunchy Calamari (P395) or some Bacon Jalapeno Potato Croquettes (P265) right?

Boy was I so glad that each table was served with these lip-smacking deep-fried pickles with creamy jalapeno dip to complement our chosen Engkanto Beer (lager in our case). We loved it so much, our table of 5 went for a second round.

For a more filling starter, our favorite was this Southern Beef Brisket Quesadilla (P525). It was very meaty, savory and cheesy, every piece was filled with generous amount of slow-cooked beef brisket in chipotle lime salsa and jalapeno dressing.

Salads are far from boring at Applebees, as it launches two delightful creations that are equally healthy and tasty. First is the refreshing Grilled Watermelon and Spicy Shrimp Salad (P765/full, P445/half), and the other is the Buffalo Chicken Salad (P525/full, (P325/half).

We got half orders for both salads, and while I like the clean and refreshing taste of the watermelon salad, my vote goes to the Buffalo Chicken Salad.

Another dish that left a good impression on us was one of Applebee's new pasta dishes. For a cream sauce pasta lover like me, it won't be a surprise if I'll choose the creamy Spinach Artichoke and Grilled Chicken Cavatappi (P495) over the Firecracker Shrimp Pasta (P595). However, I was surprised to have chosen otherwise. The Firecracker Shrimp pasta was the bomb! I wouldn't mind having this over and over again.

Handhelds are aplenty with Applebee's new sandwiches, tacos, and burger. There's a Nashville Fried Chicken Sandwich (P395), a Southern Beef Brisket Sandwich (P445), BBQ Beef Brisket Tacos (P545), Cheeseburger Tacos (P475), and last but not the least, a humongous Triple Meat All-In Burger (P795).

Seafood items are also a great catch at Applebee's, as it introduces new seafood dishes like Sizzling Skillet Shrimp Fajitas (P695), Hand Battered Fish & Chips (P495), and two salmon favorites.

You may go for the classic sweet Teriyaki Balsamic Glazed Salmon (P675), or get adventurous and try the exotic Beetroot Curry Salmon (P695). The latter was interesting, but I'd like it even more had the salmon not been dry and a bit overcooked.

The highlight of Applebee's new menu launch, was the introduction of all-new favorites, inspired by our very own local flavors. Applebee's Pork Liempo Adobo (P485), Fiesta BBQ Pork Liempo (P495), and Pinoy-style Grilled Chicken (P415) are surefire hits that offer Filipinos a taste closer to home.

With almost 20 new dishes on the menu, Applebee's continues to surprise us with their new selection of desserts. My personal favorite is the Smores Creme Brulee (P375)- a chocolate creme brulee topped with banoffee crumble and toasted marshmallows. Also available are the Hot Fudge Sundae (P225) and the new Banoffee Cheesecake (P350) of toffee with coffee graham crush, dulce de leche, hot fudge sauce and fried banana chips.

Whatever it is you are celebrating, Applebee's got you covered with their new line up of dishes and desserts. The new menu consists of Applebee's USA recipes, plus original creations locally developed to suit the Filipino palate. My top favorites are the Fried Sweet and Spicy Pickles, Southern Beef Brisket Quesadilla, Firecracker Shrimp Pasta (must-try!!!), Triple Meat All-In Burger, local Liempo dishes, and the Smores Creme Brulee for dessert.
