Cochon555 Tour Chicago: 5 Chefs, 5 Pigs, 5 Winemakers- Battle for "Prince of Porc"

Cochon555 US Tour is a nose-to-tail culinary tour dedicated to support heritage pig farmers and breeders, and to educate chefs and foodies on how they can utilize and enjoy old world livestock.

It is a one-of-a-kind friendly competition for a cause of 5 chefs, cooking 5 heritage breed pigs, paired with fine wines from 5 winemakers- hence the name Cochon555.


Since the tour coincided with my recent trip to Chicago last April, it was an event I couldn't afford to miss. Luckily, I scored 2 VIP tickets for me and my cousin courtesy of Dining Out Chicago. The $200 ticket gave us early admission to the event, plus exclusive sommelier and cocktail competition tastings.

Jolly Heart Mate Ambassador Visits Phil. Heart Center's Cardiac Rehabilitation Week

The Philippine Heart Center (PHC), cardiac rehabilitation section, recently celebrated the National Cardiac Rehabilitation week, June 19 – 27, to educate its patients and staff to improve their hearts’ health and well-being.  PHC is the pioneer in the field of Cardiac Rehabilitation in the country and it also champions in the prevention of cardiac diseases and quick recovery of heart disease patients. 


The week-long activities, in partnership with Jolly Heart Mate Canola Oil, included lifestyle and healthy tips from various dieticians and nutritionists. Jolly Heart Mate resident chef DJ Santos from CCA-Manila also conducted a cooking demo to teach recipes that are heart-friendly and healthy.

Australian Grassfed Beef On The Menu Culinary Trail 2017- July 20-August 20, 2017

The Australian Embassy of the Philippines, together with Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade), Victorian State Government, and Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA), proudly presents yet another gastronomic culinary journey, which aims to highlight the Australian Grassfed Beef.

After the success of its first promotion in 2015, Australia in the Philippines finally expanded its campaign to Manila, Cebu and Davao.  From the previous 35 participating restaurants, there are now over 60 partner establishments participating in the second Australian Grassfed Beef on the Menu promotion.


Last week, I was able to join one day of food crawling to some of Manila's top restaurants in this week-long culinary trail. We visited 4 partner restaurants, who each prepared an exclusive menu showcasing the use of Australian grassfed beef.

First on the list was Raging Bull Chophouse & Bar of  Shangri-La at the Fort. After my Canton Road experience, I've always looked forward to trying out more of Shangri-La's in-house specialty restaurants.

Botejyu Authentic Japanese Cuisine Opens Third Branch in Robinsons Galleria

Botejyu, Japan's okonomiyaki pioneer and premier specialty restaurant, recently opened its third branch in Robinsons Galleria. Less than a year since it opened its first branch in SM Mall of Asia and another branch in SM Megamall, Botejyu is already set to continue with its aggressive expansion in the country.


The grand opening was graced by media and celebrity artists under Viva- the master franchisee of Botejyu in the Philippines. 

Everyone was treated to an afternoon of Japanese specialties consisting of Botejyu's signature dishes, and best-selling menu items, that continue to capture the hearts and palate of the Filipinos.

We started off with Osaka's premium Takoyaki All-Star (P245)- a sampler of Botejyu's takoyaki flavors: Original, Umami Sauce & Mayo, Spicy Mentai Mayo, Tomato Sauce, Thick Spicy Sauce, and Salt Garlic.
