D and I found a new hang-out place in Banawe. As I mentioned before, we are starting to live a healthier lifestyle this year. That includes working out at least twice a week and eating healthier food once in a while. Since we work near Banawe, we'd always frequent the dimsum places along the area. On the quest to look for healthier options, we chanced upon a vegetarian cafe called Caffe Dolce. Caffe Dolce has been in the business for years now but it was only recently that we got to try it out.
Caffe Dolce is just right in front of Wan Chai so we've always been curious on what dishes it offers.
The first time we visited, I immediately fell in love with the place. Who wouldn't? It was lovely, neat and dainty with red posh couches, floral wall papers, and elegant plastic chairs.
Japanese Curry Rice (P175)- breaded veggie fish with a must-try Japanese curry sauce, served with rice omelette
This doesn't taste like vegetarian at all. The breaded fish patty reminds me of nuggets while the Japanese curry was thick, creamy and mildly spiced. It was actually pretty good! D can't believe there's no meat in there.
Baked Ziti a la Caffe Dolce (P205)- baked ziti pasta combined with pomodoro and bechamel sauce with eggplant and veggie sausage
Being a white-sauce pasta lover, I initially wanted to order the Carbonara. But upon asking for their best-seller, our server recommended their Baked Ziti a la Caffe Dolce. It was cheesy and tasty but not too heavy to eat. Thumbs up!
Tropical Fruit Pizza (P210-6", P349-12")- a house specialty thin crust pizza in bechamel sauce topped with seasonal tropical fruits
A healthy and delightful plate of pizza! It has kiwi, strawberry, peaches, pineapple and mango. The crust is like a pita wrap smothered with bechamel sauce.
Pineapple Fried Rice w/ Rolled Salad (P299-regular, P499-family)- tasty fried rice with pineapple served with egg roll salad
Pineapple Fried Rice w/ Rolled Salad (P299-regular, P499-family)- tasty fried rice with pineapple served with egg roll salad
On another visit, we tried their Pineapple Fried Rice and Egg Roll Salad. Both were healthy and delicious! I loved the fluffy egg roll stuffed with some crunchy lettuce and fruits, drizzled with citrus vinaigrette dressing and sprinkled with nuts. Yum!
Japanese Barbecue Hamburger w/ Mexican Chips (P189)- veggie barbecue burger patty layered with fresh lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, pickles and a Japanese-style sauce served with mexican chips on the side.
I expected the burger to be just like the one we had at Agico before. Turns out, the burger had this spam-like/meatloaf patty in a giant sesame bun. It was not so bad, but I prefer Agico's vegan burger.
Teppan Shabu-Shabu w/ Noodles (P265)
You may choose from milk soup, Chinese health soup (sibut), and miso soup. I chose milk soup which was really milky with mushrooms, tofu, corn and vegetarian meat. It also comes with noodles in sweet chili sauce which I found a bit bland.
Fresh Tropical Fruit Tea (P160-hot, P180-iced) and Ginger Red Tea w/ Rose (P120-hot, P165-iced)
I went giddy the moment I saw their teapots! The Tropical Fruit Tea, was served with a candle underneath the teapot to maintain its temperature. It was fruity and sweet served with some fresh fruit slices. The Ginger Red Tea w/ Rose was also sweet with some rose petals in it.
Caffe Dolce Menu:
Caffe Dolce is a great place to relax and unwind. We love the cozy interiors, the lovely and serene ambiance, and most importantly, their healthy and delicious vegetarian dishes. Will be back for more!! :)
