Blue Rocket Cafe + Kitchen- Comfort Food and Coffee in Scout Lazcano, QC

We recently discovered a new cafe around the Scout area in Quezon City called Blue Rocket Cafe + Kitchen. Our first visit was a late dinner with good friends Sumi and J after the Phismets 2016 competition we attended. A week after, I saw myself back at Blue Rocket again, this time, with the whole family to celebrate my 27th birthday.

Blue Rocket Cafe + Kitchen is not your typical coffee shop that focuses only on coffee, and put little importance on food. The cafe is more than just your average coffee shop as they also serve comfort food and meals in hefty servings.

Appetizers

For starters, the Ye Old Fish and Chippes (P175) is your typical beer-battered white fish served with fries. Both the fish and fries were crisp and crunchy sprinkled with a special tart seasoning that reminds me of salt and vinegar chips.

We ordered a second round of Blue Rocket's Mozzarella Sticks w/ Sweet Sriracha (P195) because it was addictingly good and cheesy.

How can I miss ordering this spicy Buffalo Wings. It was ok, but the size of the wings was a bit small.

The Blue Rocket Salad (P175) is a great choice for a healthier starter. It is a big plate of romaine lettuce, candied walnuts, dried cranberries, and sundried tomatoes in a tangy lemon vinaigrette.

Pasta

The Asian Chicken Pasta (P185) is Blue Rocket's take on our favorite Charlie Chan from Yellow Cab. It has the same oriental taste with a nutty flavor and spicy kick, less the garlicky taste. Yum!

Another interesting pasta option is this Pumpkin Pasta w/ Smoked Salmon (P220). It was very light in taste, while the salmon flakes gave a salty contrast to the creamy pasta.

I wasn't able to try this Seafood Aligue Pasta (P245), but judging from how it was swept clean instantly, it should be that good. Will definitely try it out next time.

All Day Breakfast

Our favorite Pinoy breakfast of Chicken Tocino (P165) is made with a sweet and savory boneless chicken thighs sans the preservatives. It is served with seasoned rice, two eggs, and pickled vegetables.

Comfort Food (Mains)

I enjoyed almost everything we had at Blue Rocket except for this BBQ Baby Back Ribs (P345). Considering that it is one of pricier items from the menu, I expected a bigger portion size for the ribs. Nevertheless, the meat was tender and taste was pretty good.

Espresso Bar

Latte (P110)- two shots of espresso, steamed milk, foam, and latter art.

Blue Rocket Menu:

More than the food and drinks at Blue Rocket Cafe + Kitchen, I love the place and ambiance the most. The cafe is very spacious and ideal for intimate gatherings and private conversations. Tables are not too cramped as you can have your personal space while enjoying your cup of coffee. Most dishes come in generous servings (except for my baby back ribs), especially the pasta selections. Will definitely go back to try other dishes next time.
