This 2018, we decided to start our year with a colorful bang, by joining the Color Manila Paradise Run last Jan 7. We've joined a few fun runs before, but I can confidently say that this one is the best and most enjoyable fun run we've been to. In fact, the whole 5km didn't feel like a workout for us.
We got the Deluxe Package (P950/P850 early bird) for the 5K race distance category, inclusive of Drifit Shirt, Race Bib, Colored Sunglasses, Color Packets and Finisher's Medal.
After registering online, we got our race kits at SM Mall of Asia the day before the run. The race kit claiming is probably the only thing that would prevent us from joining again next time. We lined up around 5pm, and we got our race kits around 7pm. Funny that they didn't allow D to change his shirt size because they told us that it was already confirmed upon online registration. But when it was my turn, they gave me a size too big from what I've chosen, because they ran out of stock.
Gunstart for 5K run was scheduled at 5:50am. We arrived past 6am, and fortunately, we were just on time.
Everyone cheered as we count down to gun start. The first few meters of the run felt crowded but we managed to run past the people taking selfies and having their photos taken. This was a "fun run" after all, and everyone is welcome to bring selfie sticks, tripods and other gears.
A firetruck was stationed a few minutes away to splash runners with water. This apparently was essential so that the colored powders thrown will stick to your body.
There were different color stations on the whole track and organizers will dust you with colored powders as you run past them.
We enjoyed the whole run, took our time, ran at our own pace, took a few selfies and photos here and there. Before we know it, we were already at the finish line by 7am.
We went back to the event grounds to claim our medals, color packets for the party, and refreshments from sponsors (Locally). There were also various activity booths and photobooths from sponsors that you can visit while waiting for the party to start.
The party started around 8:30am and the countdown for the powder toss began.
Everyone threw their color packets up in the air and for a few seconds, all I could see was cloud of colors. The music continued as everyone danced to the beat and cheered on.
It was undoubtedly the most colorful, fun and enthusiastic crowd of runners I've ever seen. Color Manila Paradise Run 2018 was definitely a colorful and awesome way to start our year!
Despite the hassle of claiming the race kits, this Color Manila Run experience certainly won't be our last.
