Ben's Cookies Opens Kiosk in SM Megamall + Baking Experience in Podium

Have you met Ben? I came across Ben's Cookies during our honeymoon in London early this year. I remember it was always on the must-visit places while I was doing some research before our travel. We weren't really planning on going out of our schedule to visit their store, but luckily for us, we chanced upon their branch in Hammersmith Broadway after our day trip to Stonehenge and Bath. 

We bought a few flavors to try and really liked all of them especially the Ginger & Dark Chocolate and Cranberry & White Chocolate. Imagine my excitement when I heard that Ben's Cookies was set to open a store in Manila! Finally, I can try other flavors and have a taste of my favorites again.

Just recently, I was invited to have a behind-the-scene experience at their Podium branch and witness the baking process of their cookies first hand. What's more exciting was that I got to bake make my own batch of Ben's signature cookies!

I thought I would finally discover the secret recipe for Ben's signature cookies and share them with you, but sorry guys, the recipe remains a top secret. Ben's cookie dough are blast-frozen and shipped from London, so the staff here will just need to roll the dough into balls and bake them in the oven.

At Ben's, consistency is the key. All the dough is hand-mixed before transporting it to stores, and is guaranteed to be freshly baked throughout the day. Once a bag of blast-frozen cookie dough is thawed, it must be immediately baked within the day.

Each ball of cookie dough must weigh approximately 75 grams.

What sets Ben's Cookies apart from your regular chocolate chip cookie is that they have been making their soft-baked cookies with chunks, not chips ever since. They also use the same type of oven technology across all their stores worldwide to ensure consistency in their products.

Ben's Cookies offers 20 signature flavors, but only 14 were brought in the country. I was sad that my favorite Ginger & Dark Chocolate didn't make it on the list, but I was told that they might be bringing in new flavors soon.

Ben's Cookies also opened a kiosk in SM Megamall at the Mega Fashion Hall, to cater to a bigger crowd and make Ben's Cookies more accessible for mall-goers.
