Kao-Chi is a Chinese restaurant along Amoranto,Quezon City which we were very meaning to try before.
I've heard a lot of good reviews from friends and wanted to check it out myself.
The place is always packed at night especially on weekends, judging by the number of cars parked outside.
We went on a weekday evening and parking was still a problem for us.
Since we were on tight budget, we decided to just order a few dishes and the dish we came here for..
Their Xiao Long Bao.
We started with their Marinated Tofu (P88)
Since we both love tofu, this was a hit for us. But there's nothing really special with it, just plain tofu with soy base marinade.
Then we had an order of their White Chicken Noodle (P198) to share.
The noodles were chewy and the soup base was light and quite bland. We hoped to have ordered a beef noodle instead.
If I could turn back the time, we should have ordered the steamed Xiao Long Bao instead of the fried ones.
The waiter clearly described their Fried Xiao Long Bao to have soup inside.
But we were disappointed.
Our Fried Xiao Long Bao(P188) came out dry inside. No soup at all.
Think of siopao.. and make them smaller..
The presentation looked nice though, with all the green onions and black sesame sprinkled on top.
For a meal less than P500 I could say that their prices are not bad. Not cheap but not expensive either.
Will we go back? Yes.. but we'll definitely get the steamed Xiao Long Bao next time.
