One common reality that hits couples who have been together for quite some time, is the fact that sparks and butterflies do not last forever. The feeling you got during your first date, may not be the same feeling you'll get after years of going out together. While this may be a normal issue among couples, there are fortunately many ways that you can do to stir up the relationship.
One of which is doing fun and interesting things together other than the usual lunch or dinner dates.
Here are some unique activities you can enjoy with your partner for that quality-time moments.
1. Visit a Painting Studio
Unleash your inner Van Gogh and try your hand at painting. It doesn't matter if it's your first time to hold a paintbrush, or if you have zero art skills. What matters most is that you get to enjoy the moment of trying something new, and at the same time make fun of each others's masterpieces.
Denby brought me to Sip & Gogh for our 5th year anniversary and the experience was definitely a moment to remember!
2. Try Archery Lessons
Another fun and unique activity to do as a couple is to try archery lessons. Again, you don't have to be like Katniss Everdeen to enjoy archery. Most of the archery places around offer basic lessons for beginners so it's a great activity for those who want to add a new skill.
Kodanda Archery Range and Gandiva Archery and Cafe are places we've been to for some hands-on archery lessons.
3. Pampering Sessions
While D and I have been together for almost 7 years now, we never forget to still look good and feel good despite our busy schedules. Going to the spa is one of our favorite things to do during our free time. Nothing beats a good and relaxing massage after a tiring day at work.
Going to the salon or hanging out at his favorite barbershop, are also some activities we enjoy to make sure we are well-groomed and polished from head to toe. It just brings out happy and positive vibes every time we feel pampered/manpered after a long week’s work.
4. Treasure Precious Moments with Scrapbooking
Yes, sounds cheesy, but we are sentimental couple like that. We have been keeping important and memorable items such as movie tickets, photobooth pictures, name tags, gift cards, letters, simple notes, and even plastic wrappers that have sentimental value for us.
Keeping these things just brings back so many memories that constantly reminds us of our journey together. It somehow becomes a reminder that even though there are challenges in every relationship, there are a lot more good memories worth treasuring.
5. Enjoy Quality Coffee-Time Together
As much as we enjoy dining out and having a sumptuous meal together, it's a surprising discovery that you get to learn more about each other over a cup of coffee. I often notice how we would always end up talking about the food we are eating during our date nights. Either I'm too busy taking food shots, or he's too engaged with the food he's eating, that we don't talk much. But whenever it is just us and a simple cup of coffee, deeper and more meaningful conversations begin.
