Time indeed flies so fast. D and I have known each other for almost 10 years now. Can't believe it has been 5 years since I said yes to this guy who constantly makes me feel special and loved.
We may not go out to celebrate simple occasions as often as before, but we still find time to spend quality moments together. From simple activities like puzzle making and scrapbooking, to after office work outs and cooking sessions, we see to it that we find new (and affordable) activities to do aside from our usual movie and dimsum dates.
Last year, we celebrated our anniversary at Duck & Buvette. Due to our busy schedule at work, we weren't able to plan on anything for our 5th year anniversary celebration last December. We just had a simple dinner after work, then it was back to a regular day at the office the following day.
Little did I know that D had more plans in store for us over the weekend.
He gave this invitation for a weekend bonding session of fun, relaxing and gastronomic activities.
A bouquet of flowers, and a breakfast (which he personally cooked), also greeted me as he picked me up from the house early in the morning.
December 11 (Friday) 8:00pm- Feeling Artsy-Fartsy at Sip & Gogh Paint and Sip Studio
D knows how much I've wanted to try Sip & Gogh Paint Studio. Finally, that day has arrived. We were booked to an Open Session (P1,000/head) at Sip & Gogh Ayala Heights branch.
This is a freestyle session wherein customers can choose their favorite painting from the gallery or just paint anything they want. It includes a complimentary cheese platter and a glass of wine/juice.
Here are our chosen paintings:
Good thing we arrived earlier than the scheduled time as it took me around 3 hours to finish my painting. We both had a great time painting our masterpieces even without previous painting experience. Special thanks to the friendly and accommodating instructors who guided us along the way.
Spi & Gogh Paint Studio definitely unleashed the artist within us. Can't believe we were able to paint these masterpieces! The experience was very enjoyable and at the same time
Dec 12 (Saturday) 3:00pm- On-Demand Pampering at Nuat Thai Banawe
Who doesn't want an ultimate pampering experience after a long work week? I was in for complete relaxation as D booked us to a Body Scrub + Thai Massage package at Nuat Thai Banawe.
Dec 13 (Sunday) 6:00pm- Dining in the Sky at The Nest Vivere Hotel
I've always wanted to explore the peaceful and quiet staycation and dining destinations in the South. One place that tops the list for romantic dining spots is The Nest at Vivere Hotel Alabang.
Situated at the 31st floor of Vivere Hotel, it offers a cozy al fresco dining setup with a view of the hotel's pool and overlooking landscape of the city.
The Nest offers a mix selection of Western comfort food and local cuisine favorites, instead of some fancy dishes that other hotels offer.
It somehow gave a casual and relaxing vibe that makes you feel at home.
Buffalo Chicken Wings (P420)
I must admit, I was quite disappointed with the size of their wings given its price. Taste wise, it was pretty good, tender, not too spicy but flavorful.
Hickory Pork Ribs (quarter slab-P725, half slab- P1,200)
We ordered for their best-selling and much-raved pork binagoongan. It was indeed crispy and the sauce went perfectly well with rice. Serving size was also huge and good for sharing.
We ordered for their Lemon and Mushroom Linguine, but it didn't came out. Fortunately, we were already full even before dessert was served.
Dessert Sampler (P235)
Getting the dessert sampler at The Nest is the best option so you can try all their dessert offerings. It includes their Frozen Brazo, Salted Caramel Brownie with Bacon Ice Cream, and Mango Creme Brulee. My favoroite was the Frozen Brazo while D loved the Salted Caramel Brownie.
I must say D's researched paid off as we enjoyed "dining in the sky" with a dazzling view of the Southern skyline at night. Coincidentally, there was a fireworks display around the area and we got front seat tickets to this spectacular view.

The pork ribs didn't disappoint as well with its taste and fall-off-the-bone tender meat. It came with a bowl of cheesy potato wedges and a side salad.
Crispy Binagoongan (P530)

Happy 5 years Darrel Denby So! Thank you for everything you've done for me all these years. For bringing me to my favorite eating places and listening to my never-ending complaints of how fat I am after gorging on everything that we've ordered. Thank you for spoiling me with all the little things that make me happy, from my favorite junk food, to my late night dimsum cravings. Thank you not only for supporting me in everything I do, but also for pushing me to be the best that I can be. Words cannot express how thankful I am for having you as my partner in crime, my foodtrip buddy and workout companion. You are the sauce to my spaghetti, honey to my tea, apple to my pie, and pork to my siomai. Here's to getting fat or fit together, whatever the year 2016 may bring us.
