Whole Pet Kitchen: Pet Deli and Bark-ery Dog Cafe in San Juan

If you are someone who loves bringing your dogs out, you may have already brought them to various pet-friendly malls and places around the Metro. Normally, dog owners would just walk their pets while they shop, eat or do whatever they planned for the day. But if you are looking for a place where dogs are top priority, check out this new and coolest place your dogs could ever be.

D and I declared a Doggie's Day Out one Saturday afternoon, so we decided to bring Anton and Hugo to Whole Pet Kitchen: Pet Deli and Bark-ery in San Juan for some treats. The dog cafe is owned by Chef Giannina Gonzalez, who started out cooking and making dog treats for her dogs. She eventually used this experience and her professional culinary background to open up the first ever gourmet pet bakery and cafe in the Philippines.

The small cafe can only sit 12 guests at a time, but the place doesn't feel too cramped and awkward as interaction with other customers (pet owners and pets), is highly encouraged.

Meet Anton, a 7 year old toy poodle, and 5 year old Shih Tzu, Hugo.

We met Jack the Golden Retriever guarding by the entrance.

He recommended Anton and Hugo to try out his signature lasagna.

Jack's Lasagna (P88)- Semolina lasagna sheets, organic VCO, pork liver, beef, carrots, homemade yogurt, swamp cabbage, tomatoes, basil, cheese

We also ordered for the Doggie Risotto of the Month (P78)- brown rice, vegetables, organic VCO, moringa oleifera, homemade lowfat yogurt and turmeric

We were worried that Anton and Hugo won't eat their food since they are used to dog food and biscuits.

Surprisingly, they seemed to like their orders and ate it with great gusto. Their orders also came with drinking water and a small spoon for pet owners to easily feed them.

After finishing their meals, we let them play around the cafe while we enjoy our orders.

Lalalasagna (P258)- layers of bolognese meat sauce, spinach, cheese, and pawsta!

Honestly, I was expecting a bigger serving of the lasagna considering its price. It was more meaty rather than creamy and cheesy but it was pretty good. It definitely looked more appetizing than Jack's lasagna especially with that bone-shaped cheese on top.

Truffle's Egg Salad Sammie (P228)- a yummy egg salad with veggies, cheese, and a hint of truffle

While D enjoyed his meaty lasagna, I saw myself enjoying this simple but cheesy egg sandwich.

Calamansi Bar (P78)
