The Grill by Antonio's Filipino Cuisine Overlooking Taal Tagaytay

Tagaytay is known for its cold and chilly weather.. And what better way to enjoy the cool climate than a comforting hot bowl of Bulalo in the second summer capital of the Philippines!

There are a lot of famous Bulaluhan in Tagaytay. As expected, most of them were on full-house during our visit last Holy Week. Fortunately, we got a table at The Grill by Antonio's past 2pm in the afternoon.

Bulalo (P820)

Their bulalo was light and tasty with tender pieces of beef and vegetables. I like the fact that it was not too oily unlike other bulalos I've tried.

Places to Visit in Tagaytay- Puzzle Mansion and Yoki's Farm

During my Tagaytay trip with the family last Holy Week, we planned to visit the Puzzle Mansion owned by the Guinness World Record holder Ms. Gina Gil-Lacuna. The mansion boasts to have the largest collection of jigsaw puzzles in the world.

The place is quite hidden, but you'll definitely find your way without getting lost as they put up a  lot of banners and signages along the highway. It's also on the way going to Wilson's Place Bed & Breakfast along Maglabe Drive near Bag of Beans.

There's an entrance fee of P100 for those who want to go in and check out the museum.

The Dining Room at Gourmet Farms Silang, Cavite (Tagaytay)

The family spent the Holy Week in Tagaytay last April and decided to drop by Gourmet Farms in Silang, Cavite on our first day. I've read about their farm tours and lettuce picking activities so I suggested we have our breakfast at their Santorini-designed restaurant- The Dining Room.

It was a last minute decision to stay in Tagaytay for the Holy Week, when most of the hotels are fully-booked. Fortunately, we discovered Wilson's Place Bed & Breakfast.

Ramen Bar New and Improved Broth- The Hub Greenfield District

Back when there was no ramen craze in Manila yet, there was Ramen Bar. You could say that Ramen Bar is actually one of the pioneers of ramen in the Metro. Just recently, we visited Ramen Bar's Greenfield branch at The Hub, to try their new and improved ramen broth.

Now, the pork bones used in making the broth are boiled longer with an addition of Abura, minced pork fat to make the broth richer and tastier.

R.B.S. #1 (P380)- tonkotsu, shoyu, chasyu, kakuni, negi, naruto

The aji tamago, seaweeds and nori were gone, but it was compensated by generous amount chasyu slices and kakuni. What I love most about R.B.S#1 is the kakuni topping which is also my favorite appetizer from Ramen Bar.

Kakuni Buns (P220)- melt-in-your-mouth pork belly wrapped in a special white bun

Sodam Korean Buffet- Unlimited Grill & Shabu-Shabu in San Juan

There are times when we would crave for Korean especially those restaurants offering unlimited beef and pork belly. There's Don Day along Quezon Ave and Malingap, Matgalne in Makati and Pasig, and a lot more in Malate area. Our favorite so far is the Unlimited Grill and Shabu-Shabu beside Mak Chang along Adriatico

Just recently, we discovered a new Korean restaurant with that same concept in San Juan called Sodam. It is located right in front of Huat Pot Unlimited Shabu-Shabu Metro Pointe Center along P. Guevarra.

For a dinner rate of  P399, you get to enjoy unlimited beef, samgyupsal, Korean dishes and shabu-shabu to your heart's content.

Cantina Sicilianita- A Taste of Sicily at Shaw Boulevard

I've always been curious about Cantina Sicilianita whenever we pass by the Babyland compound along Shaw Boulevard. Finally, we were able to check it out while on a double date with D's younger brother and his girlfriend.

The place is quite small but we totally admire its interior and ambiance. It was very reminiscent of Italy's restaurants and trattorias according to D.

We started with some antipasti of Eggplant Parmigiana (P135)- A Southern Italian dish made of deep-fried breaded sliced eggplant topped with marinara sauce, mozzarella and parmesan cheese then baked until bubbly delightful

And ordered 4 kinds of pasta:

Gambretti Fra Diovolo (P205)- fresh spicy shrimps marinated with the Godfather's secret recipe, tossed in linguine pasta with red wine sauce

Vongole Con Pomodorini (P170)- a traditional Neapolitan dish with cherry tomatoes, white wine, garlic, clams, and parsley sauteed in olive oil

Pesto Siciliano (P170)- a different take on the heavenly and herbaceous concoction with the addition of fresh tomatoes, basil, garlic, cashew, pine nuts and olive oil

Pasta Al Salmone Affumicato (P200)- A favorite on the seaside city of Cefalu. Linguine in cream and fresh gremolata, tossed with smoked salmon and Italian spices

Our pasta were cooked perfectly al dente and the unanimous favorite was the Pesto Sicialiano, since it was the most flavorful among all the pasta dishes we ordered. I would probably order this again on our next visit!

Menu prices in Cantina Sicialinita are surprisingly very affordable. Their pasta ranges from P140-P205 pesos, though serving size is just enough for one.

Too bad we missed ordering their best-selling Cannoli. Well, that just gives us a reason to go back right? I'm also looking forward to trying out some traditional Sicilian dishes like the Polpette Al Sugo or Sicilian meatballs, and Chicken Marsala.
