There are times when we would crave for Korean especially those restaurants offering unlimited beef and pork belly. There's Don Day along Quezon Ave and Malingap, Matgalne in Makati and Pasig, and a lot more in Malate area. Our favorite so far is the Unlimited Grill and Shabu-Shabu beside Mak Chang along Adriatico.
Just recently, we discovered a new Korean restaurant with that same concept in San Juan called Sodam. It is located right in front of Huat Pot Unlimited Shabu-Shabu Metro Pointe Center along P. Guevarra.
For a dinner rate of P399, you get to enjoy unlimited beef, samgyupsal, Korean dishes and shabu-shabu to your heart's content.
Their beef and pork belly are sliced thinly with just the right amount of fat.
There aren't much choices for the shabu-shabu but they have veggies, corn, squash, clams and noodles which I think are enough.
Fresh lettuce and Chinese cabbage for the grilled meats.
Aside from the grill and shabu-shabu items, they also offer a small buffet area of Korean staples like kimchi, namul, squid, nuts, pajeon, japchae, fish, potato marbles etc..
The dishes change once in a while depending on the time you arrive. During our visit, we were able to catch the baked mussels, fried chicken and tilapia.
You can also create your own bibimbap.
The owner was very kind to make some for our table.
I really enjoyed tasting almost all dishes in the buffet table. Overall taste is ok given the price per person. There may be less variety of dishes compared to the one we tried in Malate, but it's definitely worth the visit especially when we're around the area.
They have an ongoing promo of P299 only for lunch/dinner buffet with free bottomless iced tea at CashCashPinoy now. I think it's super worth it especially if you're a fan of Korean gill and shabu-shabu. Check the deal here: www.cashcashpinoy.com/#!/2-food-and-dining/d/55904-sodam-korean-buffet
Sodam Restaurant
331 P. Guevarra St. Brgy. Little Baguio, San Juan
there's hardly any selection other than the meat as ban chans are usually free anyway. but we'll try this still =)
ReplyDeleteactually they served baked mussels and fried chicken naman but wasn't able to take pics na kasi ang bilis maubos.. mas madmi pdn choices dun sa tabi ng makchang but if nsa san juan area then I think this is a great alternative na :)
ReplyDeleteThe meat here has more fats than the one beside makchang. But price-wise, its 100 php cheaper and 100 goes a long way I guess. Sodam/Matgalne/Donday 399 > Beside Makchang 499 > Choice (best in meat and seafood selection) 580 http://www.tsinoyfoodies.com/2014/05/choice-buffet.html
